Obituary for Ernestine Ellen (Weber) McQuary

Ernestine Ellen (Weber) McQuary, born on February 15, 1917, in Bloomfield, MO, to Franz and Grace Weber, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2014, in Tucson, AZ. Educated in her primary and secondary years in Bloomfield, she also attended Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau, MO. During her high school years, she met her future husband, Leslie (Les) McQuary, at a dance; and they were married on September 8, 1935. At the conclusion of their junior year of college, she and Leslie moved to Dexter, MO, in 1943. Leslie was deployed to the South Pacific with the 32nd Infantry Division; and Ernestine became the sole caregiver and provider to their daughter, Rebecca Ann, by owning and operating a beauty shop. A Tucson, AZ, resident since 1950, she was an avid reader, a Life Member of the educational and philanthropic sorority PEO, a Girl Scout and Brownie leader, an avid quilter, and a member of numerous social and educational organizations in Tucson. Ernestine was a woman of strong faith and a member of Catalina Methodist Church since 1950. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie, of 78 years; her parents; a sister, Geraldine; and a brother, Norman. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Ann Cole, and husband, Ronald, of Davis, CA; three granddaughters, (Lori Pygeorge, Shelley Morse, and Julie Cole-MariƩ); their husbands; and seven great-grandchildren. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a more gentle and loving woman has never lived. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Catalina Methodist Church Fund or Casa de la Luz Hospice. At her request, services will be private with eventual internment with her husband in a military cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri, near her ancestral hometown. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.
